When my surgeon informed me that chemotherapy was necessary to treat my cancer, I realized that my life was about to change drastically. I immediately pictured myself bald and unwell, and I knew I had to do everything to maintain some semblance of normalcy. That's when I heard about the cooling cap technique, which allows you to keep your hair despite the treatments. I knew right away that this was the solution I needed. Keeping my hair was essential to me because my appearance was an integral part of my personality. I was the only patient in the treatment room at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal wearing a cooling cap, and I felt good about it: all eyes were on me and my full head of hair at each session. The caps not only preserved my hair but also eliminated the risk of permanent alopecia, a dreaded side effect of the Taxotere included in my protocol (and relatively unknown to the general public here in Quebec, despite numerous class-action lawsuits in the United States). Cancer is a tough ordeal to overcome, and feeling comfortable in your own skin is crucial to facing it. The use of cooling cap technology has been a real asset in my fight for recovery. Thanks to them, I was able to maintain a positive attitude and a normal appearance in the eyes of my child, my loved ones, and, above all, in my own eyes. I am convinced that this option should be offered to all women who need to undergo chemotherapy because the psychological benefits it provides are immeasurable. *- Jasmine* [https://gardetescheveux-staging.netlify.app/en/jasmine-marcoux/](**See Jasmine's profile**)
