FAQ
-
How are the amounts granted by the SAFIR program determined?
- The financial support provided to each beneficiary depends on their situation. The SAFIR program reviews each application and is the sole decision-maker.
- Each beneficiary can submit a maximum of two applications per year.
- An eligible beneficiary can include expenses related to the use of cooling caps, as well as other essential costs covered by the SAFIR program.
- The maximum annual amount is $3,000 (including taxes), with a lifetime cap of $5,000 (including taxes), covering all eligible expenses.
-
How is the financial assistance provided?
- No money is directly given to the beneficiary who submitted the application.
- The financial assistance is paid directly to the service provider, with a predetermined amount per provider. The Garde tes cheveux Foundation has established a process with Linde Canada and Penguin Cold Caps Canada to cover the costs of dry ice and the rental of necessary equipment, such as the rented cooler. The rental of complementary materials must be done through certified partner providers.
- Once your application is accepted by the SAFIR program, a simple ordering process with the distributors of cooling caps and dry ice will be communicated to you via email.
- Note: Applications can be considered retroactively, covering the period from September 1 to the date of application acceptance, for cooler rentals, delivery fees, and cap rental payments. However, the costs of purchasing dry ice are not retroactive.
-
How to submit a financial support application to SAFIR?
- Complete the form available online.
- You can fill out the form and attach the required documents directly online, or download it and send it via email or fax.
- Upon receiving the complete application with the required documents (support letter from a healthcare professional or tax notice), a SAFIR representative will promptly review the file and contact the applicant within 48 to 72 business hours to provide a final decision.
- Note that the SAFIR program operates independently, and the Garde tes cheveux Foundation does not participate in the selection of beneficiaries.
-
What expenses are eligible for the financial support program "Garde tes cheveux" under the SAFIR rapid financial aid service?
- As part of its collaboration with the Garde tes cheveux Foundation, SAFIR provides financial support to ease the rental costs of cooling caps, enabling hair preservation during chemotherapy treatments, as well as related expenses such as dry ice and transportation of the rented equipment to your home.
- Additionally, the SAFIR program can also financially support women in precarious situations for certain expenses, such as rent payments, cable fees, and childcare costs.
